lexiCan organizes knowledge and information in articles. An article can contain texts, images and tables. Texts and images can carry references/links to internal or information sources, e.g. other articles or websites. You can find more details on this in section 3. Organize and network knowledge .
To create a new article, click on the green plus sign in the function bar "Start".
Alternatively, you can create a new article using the keyboard command Ctrl+N.
The newly created article is automatically in edit mode, can be given a title (use of synonyms) and filled with content. For concrete possibilities, read the section Edit articles below as well as the articles Insert, Import and formate text, Insert and formate pictures and Insert and design tables.
To save the item or to cancel the process, click on "Save" or "Cancel" in the article's toolbar. E.G.
The article is listed then in the index and outline (navigation on the left) after saving.
Please note! If the draft mode is activated for the project and articles are initially created as drafts, this function is not available.
lexiCan allows articles to be superordinated or subordinated to each other. In order to subordinate an article to another article as soon as it is created and thus save time, there is a pull-down menu with the green plus sign already mentioned.
When you click on "Add Subarticle", a new article is created as described above, but it is automatically subordinated to the article selected at that time in the index or outline.
Select the article via index or outline and click on "Edit" in the article's toolbar.
Alternatively, you can execute this command with the key combination Ctrl+E.
This changes the view of the article. A colored dot is displayed in the tab and lexiCan shows the "Edit" function bar.
Now you can make changes to the article name and content.
To change metadata and make changes/assignments in the context area, you do not need to edit the article - unless you are working in draft mode.
Click on "Save" in the article's tool bar to save your changes/entries. A temporary saving of entries without leaving the editing mode can be done via the pull-down menu ("Temporary saving".
